Host of the US 2006 15 Meter National Championships

Since the 1970's numerous glider-soaring events have been held at Siskiyou County Airport.  In the mid-1990's a group of visionary pilots formed an organization that optimizes the use of this valuable facility. That organization is The Mount Shasta Soaring Center (MSSC)  Agreements have been established which:

bullet
minimize disruption of normal activities,
bullet
eliminate interference with contingency forest fighter emergency operations,
bullet
maximize the use of facilities by visiting glider pilots and their crews.
 
Through the MSSC, participating glider pilots accept the responsibility for the safe use of the facilities at Siskiyou County Airport as well as defray additional expenses to the county.
