SISKIYOU FIRE TANKER BASE ACTIVATION
PILOT PROCEDURES

All Soaring Championship Contestants will modify their launch, start, and finish procedures when a Contest Official announces that the "Siskiyou Fire Tanker Base is Activated." The purpose is to coordinate sailplane contest
activity with fire tanker operations at Siskiyou County Airport.

Launching: The Operations Director will coordinate the dispersal of aircraft to allow tankers to operate effectively from the runway.

Starting: The Gate will announce "Siskiyou Fire Tanker Base is Activated," and to avoid air tanker traffic by staying above 3000 feet AGL. A Roll Call will be taken on 123.3. If a sailplane must land, the pilot is to switch to 123.0;
announce positions in Left hand pattern for 35 and Right hand pattern for 17;establish spacing with airport traffic; and land expeditiously.

On Course: A contest official will announce "Siskiyou Fire Tanker Base is Activated." All sailplane contestants will stay on 123.3 while flying the course to recieve updated instructions such as Restricted Areas, Contest Modifications, and Finishing and Landing Instructions if different from below.

Finishing/Landing: All sailplane pilots will finish at 2000, AGL or above to provide spacing and landing options; switch to 123.0 after finish to coordinate with airport traffic; establish spacing with airport traffic;announce intentions; and expeditiously execute a Left hand pattern for 35 or a right hand pattern for 17.  The Operations Director will monitor Air Attack 123.975 to coordinate traffic.
