Power Tech"UltraStream" ENERGY STORAGE BATTERY:
Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery is the ultimate in weight versus power technology. This is a drop in replacement for your Lead-acid battery, and will require no change to your existing system.  Replaces 9Ah & 12Ah lead acid batteries.

LifePO4 contains no poisonous lead, no acid, and does not create gasses during charge, as traditional Lead-Acid batteries do. Compared to lead-acid, Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries are also extremely light, have much lower self-discharge, do not sulfate, and are environmentally friendly.

"UltraStream" Models have a Battery Management System (BMS). BMS monitors the key operational parameters during charging and discharging such as voltages, currents and internal temperatures.

There are three main objectives common to all Battery Management Systems (BMS) are:

• Protect the cells or the battery from damage from overcharging or discharging too low.
• Prolong the life of the battery with cell balancing.
• Maintain the battery in a safe operating state.

Because of its light weight, safety, excellent thermal stability, long life, good electrochemical properties as well a very high specific energy density, Lithium Phosphate batteries are the best choice to replace lead acid batteries.

When attempting to charge a Lithium battery below 0°C / 32°F a chemical reaction referred to as “Lithium Plating”
occurs. Lithium plating is caused by the charge current forcing the lithium ions to move at a faster reaction rate and
accumulate on the surface of the anode.  This chemical reaction causes a permanent reduction of the battery’s capacity and will continue to reduce its capacity each time this reaction occurs.

This charger is constant current, constant voltage (CCCV) "Smart" chargers for 12V LiFePO4  batteries. "Smart" chargers stop charging once 14.6V is reached.   They start charging with the full amperage 5A as the amperage goes down  to 0 the Voltage goes to about 14.6 volts and the charging stops.

LiFePO4 Battery Maintenance

  • Only use LiFePO4 battery chargers, fully charge the battery for the first time.

  • The battery reaches its max capacity after fully charged and discharged 3 to 5 times.

  • Turn charger or power on before connecting charger to the battery!

  • To prolong battery life cycle and soon after discharge to a low level charge battery.  Leaving a battery in a deficient state may affect battery life.

  • If a battery will not be used for a long time, keep it at approx 1/2 capacity and charge every two months for 1 hour.

  • Avoid shorting the positive and negative output terminals of the battery.  This will damage the battery.

  • Batteries can be used in parallel, but not in series. Paralleling LiFePO4 batteries of different ages and capacities and brands works just fine. Independent of any other parameters, the batteries will be the same voltage if at the same state of charge, and when you put them in parallel they are forced to be at the same voltage, and hence at the same state of charge.

  • Store batteries at a temperature of 5C to 40C. in a clean dry environment.
